Sichuan is one of our core business regions, where we are growing bigger and stronger while keeping in mind our responsibility of contribution to the society.
In 2009 when a new establishment of the group took root in Panzhihua, Sichuan, Messer's action for love continued. After making donations to Xiaoba Primary School in Ya'an, Sichuan in the previous year, Dr. Hans Messer Sozialsiftung, the Messer family's social foundation, decided to contribute another RMB170,000 to a school library for the students of Minjiang Primary School in Dujiangyan. In October 2009, Mr. Schneider, CEO of Messer China, made a special visit to the school.
Minjiang Primary School is located in Zipingpu Township, Dujiangyan City, with 480 students and 46 faculty members. The 512 Earthquake destroyed all the buildings in the school. Thanks to the support from the local government and the society, a new teaching building was completed at the end of September 2009. A 214m2 room still vacant there will be used as a library in the future. Messer's donation will be used in library design, library facility procurement as well as book purchasing and management.
Messer will implement this library project through a social organization called Sunrise Library. The latter is a non-profit private organization based in Shanghai, aiming at offering cultural supplies to poor groups, especially juniors. They have rich experience in setting up libraries for poverty-stricken schools.
We anticipate the Messer's library could be launched in the middle of 2010 to open a door of hope built on knowledge for the students of Minjiang Primary School.
